Norway Saga. Chapter 2

IMG_9913

Early morning. We are still half asleep [yep, we didn’t sleep enough. yolo.] pretending to hitchhike. No cars go, huh.

IMG_9915

This little green car will be open [we came here too early this time] the next day [so whatever happens, don’t miss my next post!].
Hardangervidda mountain plateau. On our way to Vøringfoss.

We didn’t have too much time here, so everybody were frantically taking as much good pictures as they could. I guess we succeeded – at least nobody was crying afterwards… However, I was too cold to think about crying or anything else. OK, I’m lying – I had one more thing to think about – how to not drop the camera into the waterfall.

And we’re here – Odda, the Buer glacier. Starting our way. Jesus, the beginning was so easy. [Photo by Anna]

Stones piled up on each other.

IMG_9963

Lots of them. Initially, piles of stones like these have been used to mark trails for others. As a guide.
Nowadays, when tourists are just having fun with these, there is a completely different meaning. You get rid of all your sins by building this kind of pile. The only catch – you have to find your own stones and not take them from already built piles [cause if you do, you get others’ sins for yourself. or so they say].

IMG_8380

Climbing a bit higher. Still easy. We’re still thinking we could carry our cameras like this all the way up.
ha ha ha

T. The letter we were not allowed to loose from our sight. If you do, good luck with all the Norwegian mountain trolls [because T is for trolls. trollollolololl].

The ice. Up there. And up in the air.

-“Gundega, I am bloody tired, let’s stop and take a picture where you show no sign of how difficult this actually is!” -“OK!”
[True story, bro]

IMG_8383

Climbing even higher.

IMG_9971

We did it! Well, not everybody. But we did it!
8 [more like ∞] kilometres to see this [and feel this].

IMG_8384

Worth it, of course!

333

Seize the moment.

IMG_9993

Packing my bag. With my unicorn hair-do. Nothing special.

IMG_9999

Gundega taking photos. iPhone five-ever because we’re scared to use our cameras. because. what if the camera falllllssssss…

IMG_9975

Our guide Māris probably telling some serious stories about the glacier. Meanwhile… I am me.

IMG_9990

What’s it like to feel small? It’s like… this! To be in front of this.

IMG_0005

Walk up the Buer glacier, like, what up, I got a big rock.

IMG_0011

All’s good.

IMG_0010

IMG_9986

Tired. Beaten. Exhausted. But so happy!

IMG_0003

And nowww. Another 8 [more like ∞] kilometres down.

Later on that day we took the Utne-Kvanndal ferry and crossed the Hardangerfjord. Kvanndal was our home for the night. The best in the trip, by the way.

Don’t forget I am instagramming.
Also, go and check out my last post [the first about Norway] if you haven’t already. Cheers!
